Trauma Rescue & Recovery Guide

What is the Wild Haven Sanctuary?

While most medical and social service organizations provide immediate rescue and rehabilitation for trauma victims our Wild Haven Sanctuary focuses on long-term, holistic support to prevent survivors from returning to destructive environments or behaviors that retraumatize them and lead to chronic dysfunction, disorders, diseases, and pain.

Wild Haven Sanctuary is dedicated to providing accessible nature based trauma therapy services for survivors of severe and repeated trauma to move toward a LIFEstyle of recovery, restoring hope, and rebuilding resilience within a safe, brave community that will impact future generations to come through retreats, workshops, and adventures!

Our mission is to SHOW THEM HOW to literally MOVE through and out of the stress, anxiety, depression, and chaos they feel in their brains and bodies with holistic, sustainable, natural, evidence based practices that instill hope and bring healing. As they connect the dots and experience transformation, they break free from the chains of anxiety, depression, and self destructive thoughts that kept them trapped, giving up, and stuck in unhealthy ruts … that wreaked havoc on their physical health, too.

At the same time, we guide them in restoring connections within nature with the Healer (the Triune God), themselves, and others who often become lifelong support systems we all need to get through hard times.

We believe that we are each inherently designed to thrive by becoming whole through holistic - physical, emotional, mental, spiritual, relational, and even financial stability and well-being.

There are a plethora of rescuers meeting acute needs like food, shelter, safety and emergent/urgent medical care through rescues, shelters, and rehabilitation facilities, but through our Wild Haven Sanctuary we will provide tools, resources, and growth opportunities to empower individuals to restore their health, rebuild healthy boundaries, and reclaim their resilience to bounce back and receive what was lost or stolen from them... WHOLEness.

Our ultimate vision is to foster a COmmUNITY where trauma survivors become leaders who, with their strength and healing, will impact, inspire, and transform generations upon generations to come.

Fun Facts: **Why the number 8 and 12 you ask? We desire to keep these groups intimately small because our hope is to foster the safety and trust needs of each trauma survivor and create lifelong relationships that endure through hard and holy battles of the spirit, mind, and body.

Bonus Interesting Info: Because 8 is the number that, Biblically speaking, represents New Beginnings, AND when “knocked down” it’s the infinity symbol (♾️) that, to me personally, represents the Alpha and Omega's (God’s) infinite love, compassionate grace, mercy, and forgiveness that turns ashes to beauty (Is 61:3)! And the number 12, represents the 12 Apostles. Jesus' "Inner Circle" of misfits -so to speak- who formed close knit friendships and discipleship to "Go" spread the good news! And, ultimately, all that we do does this - even in spaces where we can't SAY Jesus, we can SHOW Jesus by BEing the hands, feet, hearts, minds, and bodies of Christ!

Other Ways You CAN Help us Found & Fund the Wild Haven Sanctuary by January 2025.

  • Goal: To fundraise $5,000 by August 2024 for legal and 501c3 (non-profit) application fees. Progress: As of 7/15/24, our family has donated the $5000 to found the Wild Haven Warrior Project Start Up and pay for a non-profit lawyer and non-profit application fees! BUT WE MUST FIND 3 BOARD MEMBERS FIRST to even begin the application process. PLEASE PRAY THAT 3 PEOPLE WHO ALIGN WITH OUR CORE VALUES, MISSION AND VISION WILL JOIN OUR BOARD! Please contact us if you feel the call!

  • After the 501c3 (non-profit) application is submitted, we can apply for grants and receive tax deductible donations).

  • Current NEEDS:
    • Prayer Warriors, ***Experienced Volunteers, and Advisory Council members to join our team who can help guide us to create strong non-profit foundations.
      • Fundraising and grant application volunteers to apply for funds to pay for essential operational expenses and supplies before we can begin to serve our target populations well.
      • Volunteer Virtual Assistant for <10hrs per week (website, marketing, email campaigns, and administrative duties)
      • Volunteer Copy Writer/Marketing Personnel to communicate clearly and effectively across multiple platforms to reach our target population and those who will support our outreach
      • Volunteers who can come alongside us so that the founder can work in her strengths: researching, creating curriculum, teaching, and networking!
    • Wise, experienced Board Members who can help us discerningly serve, build aligned relationships and partnerships, while strategically growing here, near, and far.
    • Financial donations to continue to retain the non-profit lawyer and accountant/bookkeeper after the initial application process for future legal and financial guidance and services.

***Opportunities for some volunteer roles to become paid staff roles as we grow financially.
